Rapture

Rapture was created by some of the first arcane users in Dorlonthir. As magic was a new discovery, it wasn’t really accepted until later in the history of Dorlonthir. So “The Cult of the Arcane” as it was called then, devised a way to displace water and keep the barrier strong against the pressures. At first Rapture started out as a small village, but as their knowledge of the arcane grew so did the city. Eventually it reached a size that the magi did not dare pass for fear of the barrier failing. During the first war against Zelegith, the leader of this cult joined 3 of his other friends to defeat him. After it was done, he briefly came back to the city and gave the magi the blade from Zelegith’s sword which held great magical properties, which allowed them to expand their barrier beyond anything they could have ever hoped to do.

Eventually as Arcane magic became more and more accepted, Rapture started to become more open to visitors, and eventually it was voted upon by the leaders of different cities, that they appoint a king and that he would rule from Rapture. It was rightly called by the general population “the diamond under the waves”, it was the most beautiful city in existence, some of the greatest scholars of recorded history studied under the magi there. As the city prospered only few remembered the true reason for their survival, the blade of Zelegith’s sword. As he took shape once again in his second conquest of Dorlonthir he came back for the blade, his strike was swift and hard, raptures defences fell within several days and Zelegith reclaimed the blade. As it left the city the barrier failed thus flooding the city and killing everyone with it. Recovery efforts are still underway to recover some of the texts and records of the ancient world which resided within it’s once great halls.
